世界屈指の弦楽四重奏団として幅広く活躍する「ライプツィヒ弦楽四重奏団」が、『Kizuna- 友情の絆』をモットーに昨年に続き再び東北を訪れ、被災地の学校、寺院、公民館等をめぐり、最終日の5月9日(水)にシャングリ・ラ ホテル 東京の「シャングリ・ラ ボールルーム」にてチャリティコンサートを開催しました。プログラムはハイドン、メンデルスゾーン、シューマン他、日本とドイツの民謡の各種組み合わせなど幅広い構成で、来場されたお客様も大いに楽しまれていました。このイベントは在日ドイツ商工会議所、ルフトハンザドイツ航空、エアバス、シャングリ・ラ ホテル 東京のスポンサー、またドイツ大使館の後援により開催されました。入場料のうち25％はシャングリ・ラ ホテル 東京の東日本大震災復興支援プログラム「WISH.forJapan」に寄付されます。

On 9 May 2012, Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo presented a charity concert by Leipzig String Quartet, in support of the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake. A cocktail buffet complemented the concert, which took place in Shangri-La Ballroom on level 27. Admission was JPY4,500 including the cocktail buffet and 25% of the proceeds was donated to WISH.forJapan Project, Shangri-La Hotel,Tokyo’s charitable program to support victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake. This charity event was sponsored by the German Chamber of Commerce, Lufthansa Airlines, Airbus Deutschen Botschaft Tokyo, and supported by the German Embassy,Japan. 60 people attended this awe-inspiring concert.

東日本大震災から1年が経った3月11日、シャングリ・ラ ホテル 東京ではチャリティーディナー「White Dinner at Shangri-la」を開催しました。

会場は白一色で飾られ、幻想的な青いライトが静寂と祈りを表しており、会場から見える東京スカイツリー®も白く点灯していました。この日提供されたお料理は日本産の食材にこだわり、またアルコールは岩手県産のワイン、宮城県産の日本酒、一ノ蔵といった東北地方の銘柄を揃えました。さらにはWISH.forJapanの活動に深く感銘を受け、収益の一部を寄付されているイタリアワインメーカーボッテガ社の「WISH.forJapan スプマンテ」も提供されました。先日来日されたボッテガ社社長サンドロ・ボッテガ氏の直筆サイン入りボトルも、会場のお客様の注目を集めていました。

今回のチャリティーイベントの収益は301,500円となり、このうち20％はWISH.forJapanの活動へ寄付されます。

On 11 March 2012, one year after the Great East Japan Earthquake, Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo held the “White Dinner at Shangri-La” charity event.

The venue was decorated in all white, and a fantastic blue light represented silence and a wish.  In addition, Tokyo Sky Tree®, which can be seen from Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo, was lit up in white.  Dish ingredients focused on Japanese products, and sake and wine from Miyagi and Iwate prefectures were listed on the beverage menu.  In addition, Bottega’s “WISH.forJapan Spumante,” the sales proceeds of which are donated to WISH.forJapan activities, was served to guests.  WISH.forJapan Supumante bottles autographed by Mr. Bottega, the president of Distilleria Bottega s.r.l., also attracted the attention from those attending the dinner.

The White Dinner at Shangri-La raised JPY 301,500, and 20% of this amount will be donated to WISH.forJapan activities.

2月28日、仙台市若林区へ再度出向き、先日収穫され農協（JA）の倉庫に集められた大豆の選別作業をホテルのスタッフ数人を含む約30名のボランティアで行いました。作業内容は、収穫した大豆の中で割れてしまっているものや変色してしまっているものを取り除く、という地味な作業です。今年は多くの被災した農家が土壌改善ならびに生計を立てるために米の代わりに大豆を栽培しているため、かなりの量の大豆を選別しなくてはならず、約30名で一日中作業しても全体の半分程度しか終わりませんでした。この作業を地元農家の方々だけで行うことはほぼ不可能であるため、今後もボランティアの方々の協力が必要となります。

On 2 February 2012, our colleagues went to Wakabayashi-Ku in Sendai to help with the selection of soybeans that were harvested a few days previously.This year, many devastated farming families are growing soybean instead of rice for their incomes, and they have to select the best quality soybeans from an immense quantity.  Thirty volunteers, including our colleagues, spent all day doing this work, but only got through half of what was required.  It is almost impossible for this hard work to be done only by these farming families, so the co-operation of more volunteers will be needed.

11月18日、シャングリ・ラ ホテル 東京のシグネチャーレストラン、イタリア料理「ピャチェーレ」にて、イタリアのラグジュアリーファッションブランド 「エミリオ・プッチ」と「シャングリ・ラ ホテル 東京」主催のチャリティー ガラディナーを開催しました。

このガラディナーはエミリオ・プッチの最新コレクションのトランクショーを見ながら、ピャチェーレのシェフ、 パオロ・ペロシによる特別ディナーコースと「クリュッグ」の３種類のシャンパンを、思う存分お楽しみいただく、豪華な内容でした。

60名のお客様にご来店いただき、レストランは満席、ディナーの最後に行った豪華賞品が当たるチャリティー ラッフルドローでは、お客様に1枚1,000円のチケットを合計348枚ご購入いただきました。ラッフルドローチケットの売り上げ348,000円はWISH.forJapanに寄付されました。

Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo and Italian luxury fashion brand “EMILIO PUCCI” jointly held a Charity Gala Dinner at the hotel’s Italian restaurant “Piacere” on 18 November 2011.


60 guests attended, enjoying a wonderful time the trunk show of EMILIO PUCCI’s new collection, as well as Chef Paolo Pelosi’s creative dinner course. A charitable raffle draw was also held, for which 348 JPY1,000 tickets were sold and fabulous prizes won. The proceeds of a portion of the gala dinner and these raffle tickets were donated to WISH.forJapan.

セカンドハーベストジャパンhttp://www.2hj.orgと共に立ち上げた「東北地方への食糧支援」の第3回目の活動が10月6日に行われました。7名の社員が東北地方へ運ばれる食糧のパッキング、トラックへの荷積みを手伝いました。

今回パッキングした食糧は、米、みりん、醤油、油、チョコパイ、わかめ、切干大根、麩、スプーンとフォーク。これらを300セット準備し、東北地方へ送りました。


Charity activity with Second Harvest Japan was held on 6 October. 7 colleagues helped to pack food items and load them into trucks heading for the Tohoku area.

300 packets of items included: Rice, Sweet cooking rice wine, Soy sauce, Oil, Chocolate snack, Seaweed, Japanese radish, Dried bread-like pieces of wheat gluten and Spoon and Fork.

9月26日、WISH.forJapan は、シャングリ・ラ ホテル 東京が開業以来サポートしている「あしなが育英会」の東日本大震災で親をなくした子供たちのケアセンター「東北レインボーハウス（仮称）」設立のために2000万円を寄付いたしました。

東日本大震災では、約1,800人の子供達が親を亡くし、うち260人もの子供達は両親共に亡くしています。「あしなが育英会」では長期にわたって物心両面での支援をするための拠点として「あしなが育英会東北事務所」を仙台市に開設。さらに阪神・淡路大震災の遺児のための「神戸レインボーハウス」と同様に、東日本大地震・津波遺児の心のケアセンター「東北レインボーハウス（仮称）」を震災から2年後の2013年の完成を目標に仙台市内に建設することを決定しました。

WISH.forJapanは今後も「東北レインボーハウス（仮称）」の建設支援を継続するほか、様々な活動を引き続き行っていく予定です。

On 26 September 2011, WISH.forJapan held a small ceremony at Shangri-La Hotel, Tokyo and pledged to donate JPY20 million to Ashinaga, its EMBRACE beneficiary and an NPO dedicated to fostering educational opportunities for orphans worldwide, when construction works for a Rainbow House in Sendai begin in 2013.

At present, more than 1,800 orphans who have lost at least one parent during this disaster are receiving financial assistance from Ashinaga. The new Rainbow House and its satellite facilities will provide subsidized accommodation for orphaned undergraduates as well as counseling and other activities to younger orphans resulting from the March 11’s earthquake and tsunami.

WISH.forJapan will continue to support the victims of Tohoku disaster and other organizations in need, in addition to our own field activities.

９月１２日、５人のパートナー会社の方々を含めた２３人が仙台市若林地区へ、農地復興のお手伝いに。すでに瓦礫がが撤去されている畑の土地を１６名がスコップや篩いで耕し、６名がさらに石や枝、海から流れてきた松ぼっくりなどを手で土から選り分けて除去する、という地道な作業ですが、今の土地のままでは作物はまだまだ育ちません。伺った農家では、１０００万円近くの借金をして農機具を買い揃えた直後の震災だったそうです。今後元通りになるには５年はかかるという見通しで、総被害額は１億円以上。１日で１６名で掘り起こし耕せた畑は３０㎡。選り分けの作業は、６名が自分のまわり１メートル四方を作業して進めたのは約１０メートルで６０㎡。１日でたったこれだけです。この農家が所有する畑は約５０００㎡。いかに今後、農家が元に戻るまでに果てしない時間がかかるのかを実感した一日でした。


On 12 September 2011, a team of 23 colleagues and five partner employees went to Wakabayashi-Ku in Sendai to help with the reconstruction of farmland. Though the large debris have already been removed, the land apparently takes a long time to recover to its original state. We had to till the soil with shovels, and carefully remove stones, pinecones and other particles that flowed in with the tide(tsunami) by hand. It is said that the reconstruction would take at least 5 years.


We divided ourselves into two groups: One cultivated the field while the other sorted out the small debris in small areas. After a day’s work, we could only cultivated 30 ㎡ and sorted out 60 ㎡, out a total area of 5,000㎡.
